What is the meaning of Haus?
English - haus (pronounced house) = house or home
n. house (in German) n. house, residential building, place where people live; audience; legislative body; place where a legislative body meets; family, group of persons who are related by blood, home.
1) A term given to a person who is amazing in all aspects of life.
2) To be really, really ridiculously good at something. (What I strive for ha ha!)
One of my favorite things to do growing up was Sunday afternoon drives with my parents to look at unique houses in the Springfield, Missouri area. 41 years later, it is still one of my favorite Sunday afternoon activities.
It was that love for house design that drove me to attend Drury University, where I graduated with a Bachelor Of Architecture degree from the Hammons School Of Architecture. While still in school I moved to St. Louis one summer to do an internship with a well known residential & historic preservation architect. I learned a lot during that experience working on historic homes. It was more than I can explain in a paragraph, but in short, it taught me about the importance of the relationship each of us have with our house, and how we 'live' in it. It's not purely an aesthetic or functioning thing, it can be so much more than that.
During another summer abroad in Europe while in architecture school, I spent a lot of free time taking train rides to see historic homes and buildings. One of my favorite adventures was a solo trip to Stuttgart to see the Weissenhof, arguably the birth of modern residential architecture that we see today. It is a small community of modern homes (which still appear modern by today's standards), and it was built in 1927. It is a result of designers of the Bauhaus.
Since graduating with a degree in architecture, I have spent nearly 20 years working in local architecture firms on residential and commercial projects. I have had a lot of unique experience, including design-build, meaning I was in charge of designing the project, then managing the construction of it. Note: I do not do any contracting now, only the design portion. My experiences have given me an edge on how to work with clients to develop the best possible design to fit their lifestyle needs, budget, and unique qualities my clients and projects bring to the table.
I am glad to discuss any potential project you may have. One of the biggest mistakes you can make in designing or building a home is underestimating the value an experienced designer can bring to the table. Professional design services is certainly not the area to skip or cut, as it has the biggest impact for the $$$$ of anything involved in a successful project, guaranteed.
My services can be as simple as a one off meeting for advice or planning on a remodel, and can get as complex as a very detailed 3D model and construction drawings on a massive new build, and everything in between. In every service, you will be involved as much as possible to give you exactly what you want and expect.
